This is my lens collection so far. It was too big for the signature so I decided on a new trend! I will update this post, here, and I will just use a link to this topic in my signature !


Feel free to do the same for yours, and post queries/comments on mine here !

Note this is an early job, I need to add comments to plenty ! All lens are M42 unless explicitly noted otherwise.

Carl Zeiss Jena
Flektogon 20mm f2.8: Updated
Got it, didn't like it, took it appart, took 2 weeks, fixed it back again, and jury is still out ! Did a few satisfactory shots. But I'm not really convinced on this lens yet.
24mm f2.8:
This is an OEM lens, "made in japan". Turns out it has the Zeiss colors, it it not *razor* sharp, but does a good jon anyway as my only 24mm.
Flektogon 35mm f2.4:
Really super 35mm, focuses very closely, has superb bokeh and is very sharp. A bit overpriced at the moment, but if you can find one cheap, jump!
Pancolar 50mm f1.8:
I didn't do a LOT of photos with this one. My copy arrived in very good condition overrall but filthy cosmericaly, I had to take it appart like twice to clean it up, and I have so many other great 50 I didn't really shoot it properly yet. Baad Buze. My various test shots are excellent tho. it appears to be really sharp, as expected. That lens seems quite rare.
Sonnar 135mm f3.5: Gallery
Well we all know that one. I must say prefer the Pentacon 135. I have 2 copies of this lens, one M42 and one Praktica B (Bayonet, with my Kadapter)

Asahi Pentax
"Takumar" is a preset lens, all the other are "auto" lens with increasing coating quality from "Super Takumar" then "Super Multi Coated Takumar" to "SMC Takumar".
Super Takumar 28mm f3.5:
Easy to use (infinity at like 7 meters) nice sharpness but has some barrel distortion; not for panoramic I would think
Super Multi Coated Takumar 35mm f2:
Has "hot glass" in (same yellowing syndrome as the 50 f1.4). Haven[t really dug into this one so far, we didn't seem to "click" immediately.
Super Multi Coated Takumar 35mm f3.5:
Tiny little lens ! It is by far the smallest of the Taks. Kinda slow for a 35mm, but good, rectilinear and sharp.
SMC Takumar 50mm f1.2 (K mount): Gallery
This is my primary 50mm right now. Works really well even wide open, excellent contrast & colors, absolutely gorgeous lens.
Super Takumar 50mm f1.4: Gallery
Super Multi Coated Macro Takumar 50mm f4:
Super Takumar 85mm f1.9: New Brand new, got cleaned, needs testing.
Takumar 105mm f2.8: Gallery

SMC Takumar 135mm f2.5 (K mount): Updated
This one got shot, it doens't have it's own dedicated gallery, but I used it for real photos very successfully. Excellent results, just at f5.6 I had razor sharp photos. It's also a LOT lighter than the metal M42 one, and has a built in hood that is quite handy (like the Zeiss 135). Quite a Gem !

Excellent little 35mm (ish) it's very very easy to use, extremely sharp. Colors are exceptional from this little lens. One of my fav 35 ish mm, with the Zeiss !

Superb lens, absolutely fantastic fun to play with, highly recommented; get over the "fisheye" toy shots and learn to use the really powerful perspective ! This lens is very sharp stopped down, and is very good at having the shots postprocessed, corrected, then resharpened.
Oh, it flares like mad, but well, it's hard NOT to get the sun in the frame !

Updated version of the preset one, with built in hood, multicoating etc. Very, Very similar to the CZJ in every ways.

Very sharp 28mm, good color rendition, excellent in hand and in handling. The focus ring is very very smooth, and one peculiarity is that the infinite is after 10m, which is very rare in wide angles. The Flek 35mm infinite is after 3m !

I didn't add the TC, I've got a Soligor x2 and a Praktica x2; but I got them as "package" with other lens, I haven't really tried them. I got a set of tubes tho, these are fun.

I was just looking over your collection (wow) and just thought I'd mention that you list the Helios 44-2 as a 50mm lens, whereas (if I'm not mistaken) it's 58mm.

Thanks for sharing your photos, I'm shopping around for some MF primes for a 350D and this resource in general as well as yours in particular have been very helpful.

Arseniy thanks I'll fix that. I'm afraid that lens is a loupe now anyway... it works, but it was scratched in the first place, and I never managed to open it up anyway !

Isca, the Lydith is "cute", I kind of like it, even tho it's not the sharpest around. I must say I haven't shot it "seriously" yet, there is lot of concurence on that focale in my collection big_smile It has a gorgeous iris tho. 8 blades, for that tiny size, it's really a wonder!

For the Nikkon/Pentax I prefer the Pentax still, I find the Pentax very sharp at f1.2, and Nikon is not as good. It still has some sort of soft halo sometime, even after cleanup. The Nikon *might* be a bit sharper by f2.8 but stopped down a bit more they are the same sharpness wise, I'd need my fabled formal test to know for sure tho...

Buze: Could you expand about "I must say prefer the Pentacon 135."
I have the Pentacon 135 myself (M42 and B, but never used the B, it is still new and in the box, but used the M42 alot) and I have no complaint with it but I heard the CZJ would be a lot sharper. So I am interested of comparisions between the two, before I eventually buy a CZJ.

The Zeiss is potentialy a little sharper (debatable), but the Pentacon is 1/2 stop faster, and in the case of the Preset one also has a fantastic iris, a full metal construction too... If you go for sharpness, Takumar 135 are considerably sharper than the Zeiss and the Pentacon.
But the Pentacon has a fantastic bokeh, so even if the Takumars are sharper, I take the Pentacon most of the time big_smile

If I begin to describe my lens collection, I'm afraid the week would be not enough even at a rate of thirty lenses a day ... wink
I can say the Meyer Lydith 30 mm is not bad at all , but it is necessary to stop down to f/8-11 to consider it as "not so bad" : amazing contrast and good center sharpness, good color rendition.
I still consider that the czj sonnar 3,5/135 is better than the pentacon 135 (contrast, color rendition) , but the difference is not enormous ... In my 135mm range, the best is ... the jupiter-37 . Enormous contrast , higher than the s-tak 2,5/135 !

Hey buze - very impressive lens collection, and your sample photos are very interesting!
But here are a few corrections from a Pentax user here,
The so called SMC Takumar 50mm F/1.2 (k mount) lens you have is not a Takumar lens.  It's called SMC Pentax. 
Additionally, I must inform you that the 135mm F/2.5 lens, if you have the one that says Takumar(bayonet), and has a 52mm filter ring, then you have the budget version of the lens.  It is not an SMC Takumar, and it is not multi coated.  All K mount Takumar lenses are actually budget lenses.  Yeah, it's confusing.  The high quality K mount version of the 135mm F/2.5 is called SMC Pentax like your 50/1.2, and has a 58mm filter ring.  The SMC Takumar version 2 of the 135/2.5 should have the same optical formula also.

I could not begin to catalogue the haphazard mess I call a collection.  It gets into the several hundreds.  I think less than a thousand.  I've got over 100 135mm lenses alone.  Most in M42, a bunch in LTM, and then the Canon FL mount and so on.  I don't know where to begin.  I don't even know where they all are.  It's a nightmare, I tell you.  A nightmare!

Flektogon 35 f/2.8 Alu-finish  Less contrast than the f/2.4, but more creamy bokeh

Sonnar 135 f/3.5                  Very sharp with saturated colors "Zeiss way"

Takumar lenses:
Super-Takumar 24 f/3.5                      Really sharp with good color rendering. Prone to flare when used without an hood.
