Topic: Reversed Schneider HM40: Larva of Scarlet Tiger Moth

These have a FOV 6mm wide. Even with flash and support for my hand, these needed some motion blur removed (Topaz InFocus "Estimate").

Olympus EM-1, Kiron x1.5 TC, Reversed HM40 at f16, triple TTL flash.

Thanks, Peter.

We get those overhead here, especially at weekends. In the 1960s I went on a gliding course and was towed behind one for takeoff.

You are lucky ,here there are hundred of gliders because the aerology is very suited for sailplanes , most of them are Germans who fly beautiful modern planes . I have not seen  any Tiger Moth or Fieseler Storch followed by Grunaus around for decades...
By the way did you fly solo ?

No and I didn't persist with it. My wife's experience (1970s, when we both did a couple of weeks) was the same. If we had soloed we would have had to by into a shared private glider, beyond our means in those days, for ongoing flying.

Re: Reversed Schneider HM40: Larva of Scarlet Tiger Moth

In France , like in USSR and in Germany before WW2 , was created a program of " Aviation Populaire " to train thousands of teenagers and young men as glider pilots in   clubs , for free .  This  organisation kept working until the end of the Sixties .
It was something like your Universty Air Squadron but largely open to the whole young guys beyond the upper class ...
