Topic: Tora 35~140mm macro lens

Tora 35~140mm macro lens... looks like a Yashica to me but has a far superior build... perhaps Yashica lenses could be copies... also works like my ancient Hoya, & has the same fault, you have to advance the macro ring ever so slightly to focus the zoom for infinity... perhaps Tora & Yashica are both copies of the old Hoya??? Never heard of a Tora??
Has anyone??

Tora seem to be in the spectacle business.

Very interesting thank you... suggested "Tokina", I'm not too sure about that, very solid build for a Tokina, well. compared to my Tokina lenses? I'd still suggest a remake of the old Hoya? I'm well stumped with this one?
Tora... "Tiger"? I thought Tora meant "dive"... anyway, it's a strange name for a lens?
I'm still trolling through the links on the site... some great research done there.

Tora is tiger, the third sign in the Japanese Zodiak.

Maybe you need to consult an astrologer? smile

Re: Tora 35~140mm macro lens

I have a look alike Asanuma auto-zoom C/D 45-150mm 3.5 lens, also with "macro".
Heavy thing.
That lens is sold as Soligor C/D too.
No idea who is the maker of these lenses.

Tks for the tm info : This is the first time i see that tm

The 35/140 was manufactured by sun and was well know to have spherical aberration nearly NOT corrected (known as one of the worst lens ever sold !)

The image is glowed and with very little contrast

If my memory is correct .. it was sold as Soligor G/S (golden series .. not c/d soligor top range)

ps: asanuma lenses are Tokina's

+ Sigma 14mm & 16mm & 18/35 + Kiron 105 + Cosina 100/500 + T32 & T10

Thanks everyone.
You're probably right on most accounts... I can't find the lens so I reckon I've tried it then put it in the charity shop box?? I might have a look for it but by the sounds of it... it's not worth the effort. You pay your money & you take your chance... lol
