Topic: Large Rocks in Haut (High ) Languedoc

This part of Southern France is situated West of the Rhone river . It 's a plateau  at around 1000m above sea level , 50 km North of the Mediterranean sea . The weather , there ,  is very different of the sea shore  ; it' s a lot colder and wetter ; villages and populations are scarce by European standard : if you go there , you'll feel as if you had taken a trip back in time !
We were in Salvetat sur Agout  ( in the  Parc Regionale du Haut Languedoc ) last week , but I had forgotten my camera .Somebody lent me a small Canon digital camera ( everything was automatic , I had  just to adjust the 5X zoom and depress the trigger  ) .
On the Western part of this plateau  , the country is named "Le Sidobre" :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidobre . I had never heard of it until last week  : it' worth the visit ! :

You shared these pictures nearly a year ago, I just found them today. By accident.
The situation showed in the fourth picture from the top looks very dramatically. I didn't see something like this never before.
Longuedoc is our favourite area in French for vacation; mostly best wheter, excellent vin rouge, and all people are friendly. And not to forget the best of all: best food you can have.

Most of the tourists use to go to the seashore of Languedoc : this is the ugliest  part of this province !
I recommend you to visit the inland which looks more like the Harz than the Provence ! ...with very good meals and wine .

Re: Large Rocks in Haut (High ) Languedoc

Peter,

I know exactly what you mean. My wife's familiy lives in a small village near Poitiers. When we start our vacations we spend mostly one or two weeks over there. Living there is completely different to the tourists area. After one or two week we drive to the south.
But we are avoiding the peak season. In October normally the weather is still fine, and you don't meet so many other tourists. And these kermes things on the beach are disappeard.

Interesting shots of precariously balanced boulders none the less. Thanks for sharing these. smile

I put that adapter in a safe place, never to be seen again.
