Topic: Jupiter 9 lens m39 mt.

This lens is very hard to focus. I would like to know how to fix the focus.  Thank you.

This is for a Contax/Kiev mount, but the internals should be identical...

I went through a J9 made in 1960 a few weeks back.  They're pretty simple to work on, but messy--my biggest piece of advice would be to buy a can of carb & choke cleaner at the local auto parts store...the grease they put in these things looks like ancient wheel bearing grease (or bear grease or something) and is really hard to remove.  Carb cleaner is a really powerful solvent that will cut through almost anything.  Just put the parts in an old coffee can and hose them down.

Nice lens though...pretty sharp wide open on my Kiev III.
