Topic: New forum software

I've upgraded the forum software. It should be roughly equivalent, but with a more modern codebase.

It all /seem/ to work, please report any problems...

Canon 350D and a few lens -- Tachihara 8x10. Chamonix 45N-1, Crown Graphic 4x5. Moskva, Zeiss Super Ikonta C
Bronica S2A, Agfa Super Isolette, Iskra, Rolleiflex. Leica M2, Bessa R, Zorki 1,3,3M and a few more...

Re: New forum software

Seems to be working but I have lost my colour theme (I prefer light text on dark background) and I can't find where to set this in the new version.

Re: New forum software

Looks good.

There were colour themes?  I might prefer a darker background if one's available.

And what if reality dissolved before our very eyes?

Re: New forum software

Not entirely sure how the themes work actualy,. Having a look...

Thanks Buze!  (seems to operate faster on dial-up connection)

Re: New forum software

Hey, isn't this supposed to be the manual focus forum? What's that about advancing technology? big_smile
Everything seems to be working for me buze, thanks for the effort.

Re: New forum software

Buze, when using Carbon the logo is not "Manual Focus Forum" logo, instead something kind of weird, the software company logo perhaps?

Re: New forum software

It's great Buze it defintely seems faster.

Same with Web 2.0 style.

But thanks, buze, for your work.

Re: New forum software

When trying to search for terms, the new software requires me to wait 30 seconds between searches, even though I'm a long-time member.  I understand imposing a delay to thwart spammers, but 30 seconds for AUTHENTICATED MEMBERS seems excessive.  Can you reduce that to, say, 10 seconds, or even eliminate it altogether for authenticated members?

Re: New forum software

Very nice indeed... Is it possible to install this theme? http://themes.php-fusion.co.uk/infusion … eme_id=281

Reminds me a lot of the previous dark theme... Either way - great job! smile

Re: New forum software

Wow, I came back from vacation and ... new software (I thought I came to the wrong forum).

Thanks, Buze! I like the new modern, yet still simple and classy look... and best of all, same good folks.

Cheers, Will.

I also thought I was at the wrong place. Looking good though!

Re: New forum software

I like it so far, but I can't say I've ever used this software before.  So there'll be a learning curve involved.

Re: New forum software

Does the search feature seem to be working for anybody else?  When I search for "Canon 7D" or "Canon AND 7D" (without quotes), I get a bunch of threads returned which do not contain the string "7D" in them anywhere.  In fact, I can't find ANY of the returned threads which contain "7D".

Search terms need to have at least 3 characters for each term.  I believe the software uses an AIM search (Associated Index Method) which requires 3 contiguous non-blank characters minimum.

PS Try "Canon 7D*" or "Canon AND 7D*" (each without quotes)

Re: New forum software

Another vote for new themes here. Apart from that, all seems to be running smoothly.

Re: New forum software

Thanks again Buze!  Definitely, the forum operates much faster over dial-up (typically only 26.4kbs here).

Re: New forum software

Width seems to be fixed now - ouch. With the old software, I could use full 1600 / 1680 pixels width.

Re: New forum software

I'm getting the following between gallery and offtopic forums:

Notice: Undefined index: subject in /mnt/img/manualfocus/forum/index.php on line 225

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Invalid arguments passed in /mnt/img/manualfocus/forum/index.php on line 225

I don't think error_reporting should do that in live unless you are just testing in live version.

Re: New forum software

I tried this in Firefox and Opera and the problem doesn't show itself. So it only seems to be happening in IE6. So I guess that changing PHP error_reporting settings will stop it from showing to end users even though its still happening.

Re: New forum software

I clearly prefer this new forum. It even seems to run faster on my Nokia 5230.

Thanks, Buze.
