Topic: Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm f/2.4 Flektogon aperture system cleaning
Has anyone followed this procedure:
Today, I tried it because my aperture blades were sticking open. In the past, I've fiddled with the M/A switch and gotten the leaves moving again but today no such luck. Maybe the warmth of California has let the oil flow more than in did in the midwest.
I was able to follow the procedure up to step 4. That means I removed the three rear screws, lifted off the rear exterior of the lens. Then loosened the internal element set and removed it. Then removed the three internal screws around the aperture blade mechanism. But I couldn't figure out how to take the front exterior of the lens off in order to get to the front interior element set.
I settled for cleaning the blades from the rear. This worked well. From the front, I still see a tiny bit of oil on the blades however it was easy to get that far so if it binds up, I can do the same procedure again. However it would be nice to get the front element set off so I can clean the aperture blades from the front.
