Topic: What do you think is happening with this Micro-Nikkor 200mm f4?

My wife bought me the Micro-Nikkor 200mm f4 for my birthday. I picked an auction out on eBay that shipped from Japan. It looked great in the photos and it is working fine but I noticed the edges of the front lens have something odd going on. I tried cleaning it and it didn't help. Here are some photos:

I was guessing:

- it's starting to separate
- it had bad fungus and is cleaned but the coatings ate away
- fungus (seems really fine to me though)
- someone cleaned it by putting drops on the lens instead of the cloth and it seeped behind the front lens

Do you think I should return it? It wasn't cheap -- $330. I want to keep this lens for a long time as so far I'm really loving how light it is (easy to hand hold).

Update: it's separation. I misread the eBay listing (didn't think my wife would actually buy it for me without discussing it). Thankfully, they take returns so I'll gladly pay for shipping back and hunt down one without any separation.
