Topic: Any "new" to you, vintage Rangefinder camera purchases?

AHa- all those deals out there. I for one have been close-real close to pulling the trigger on a bargain priced Leica, another a Nikon S 2. a Tower and finally a nice 1950's Russian w/lens & filters CLAed only two years ago. It's all so close. The most recently actual purchase a  Minolta Hi-Matic 9 in great condition  and a great folder, an Ansco Speed-ex 4.5 special  the 4.5/85 Agfa Apotar lens with a Protor-S shutter is in really good-looking shape. The leather case even has a "hidden" compartment to hold three-count`em 3, lens filters!  A beautiful piece of still functioning hardware turned Art. Wa-Cha-Got

Just recently I was given a 1939' FED-1S + FED 2/50 lens and a FED-2 with Industar-61 L/D lens by a friend of my family.

I sold the FED-1S (a Leica II copy with 1/1000s, the lens was a slightly modified Leica Summar 2/50) to a French collector, mainly because it needed repairs (shuttercloth, shutter gears and transport mechanism) and was awkward to use with its separated rangefinder/viewfinder window.

The FED-2 is in good condition and works really well, a lovely camera.

But my main RF camera is still a Carl Zeiss Jena Werra 3 with a full set of lenses: 2.8/50 Tessar, 2.8/35 Flektogon and 4/100 Cardinar - not exactly new to me, since it is in my family for nearly 50 years smile

Zorki-4 with a lovely black Jupiter-8 (UK export models, all British script). Have to say that while my first pics from it aren't works of art, I'm very impressed with the lens and focussing, it's spot on.

Canon EOS30D, Sony NEX-3
Favourite M/F lenses: Nikkor 50/1.4 pre-AI, Zuiko 50/1.4, Flek 35/2.4, SP 35-80/2.8-3.8, Macro-Tak 50/4 preset *NEW* Jupiter-8 and more rangefinder lenses to come!
Favourite (and only) AF lens: Sigma 12-24

The Zorki is a pig of a camera. There, I said it. It feels agricultural, the film wind is brutal and rips up the sprocket holes. The shutter fires very sweetly with a satisfying thunk. The viewfinder's a nightmare for a spectacle wearer, you simply can't see the whole frame ever, and have to squint about to look into the corners one at a time to get any idea whatsoever of what you're shooting. It's enough to put me right off using it as a camera, but oh my, that lens ...
