the one BW pic of the girl is a 100% crop, Neopan 100ss film

this is a push-pull zoom and doesn't handle quite as nicely as the Konica UC:

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

2 , 1 and 5 for me . My feeling is that these 3 pics are better than those shot with your Konica 200mm . But I may be wrong ...

I am a Pentacon and kiev( MF and35 mm) user, and also :contaxII,III,IIa  ,contaflex , contarex bullseye ,voigtlander ....

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

Looks like it's the Tokina built (2nd) version same as mine - does the serial start with 37 and is it constant f/3.5? There were five entirely different versions of the Series 1 70-210. I haven't shot much with mine yet, it has that cool cast (on digital with AWB anyway) that seems to be typical of Series 1 Vivs.

Canon EOS30D, Sony NEX-3
Favourite M/F lenses: Nikkor 50/1.4 pre-AI, Zuiko 50/1.4, Flek 35/2.4, SP 35-80/2.8-3.8, Macro-Tak 50/4 preset *NEW* Jupiter-8 and more rangefinder lenses to come!
Favourite (and only) AF lens: Sigma 12-24

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

This is the Kiron version (starts with 22) and is the only one that goes to 1:2.2 macro. Big
heavy lens...

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

I love the second shot especially, great detail. I had this same lens, the Kiron version, in M42 mount. I really liked it but it was just too heavy for me, so I sold it.

Yes, it's a heavy lens, weighs easily a third more than my Konica UC zoom. Tend to agree with Pierre that it is a sharper
performer than the Konica, too.

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

Whats the aperture range of that lens ? Updating the topic name to contain it, for reference...

Canon 5DII and a few lens -- Tachihara 8x10. Chamonix 45N-1, Crown Graphic 4x5. Moskva, Zeiss Super Ikonta C
Bronica S2A, Agfa Super Isolette, Iskra, Rolleiflex. Leica M2, Bessa R, Zorki 1,3,3M and a few more...

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

Buze, it's f3.5 the whole FL range.

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

I have the same version of this lens in M42. I find it works very well at close ups.
A lovely collection of pics there Funrazor.
Some more samples of a fine lens, btw the focal range works a treat at the zoo. Camera Pentax K20D, can't remember the aperture settings though.

Re: Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 zoom lens

I have this lens in Pentax Mount. Your samples really show off the abilities of the Kiron-made lens . Looks like I'll need to breakout my example. Seems like every time I start thinking about thinning the herd I'll read a good thread like this and think "I can't sell that one ! It's just too good a lens and  I did get it cheep cause of the weigh and .  ..  ...
